Kathryn Collins, Optometrist attended Academy 2008 Anaheim on October 22-25, 2008, in Anaheim, California. Academy 2008 Anaheim was the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Optometry. The theme of the meeting was Today�s Research, Tomorrow�s Practice�. Highlights of the meeting included nearly 300 hours of continuing education (CE) courses, scientific presentations and an exhibit hall with more than 177 booths. More than 3,000 optometrists, vision care professionals, vision scientists and optometry students from around the world attended this prestigious meeting.

Optometrists and vision scientists who attend the American Academy of Optometry Annual Meetings are truly interested in professional and personal growth,� said Joe Yager, Past President of the Academy.

Dr. Collins graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and practices in Lititz, PA. Her practice is located at Kissel Village Eye Care in the Shoppes of Kissel Village. She has been providing full service eye health care to Lancaster residents for nine years. The Academy meeting focused on many topics including new treatments for dry eye and advanced treatment and management of ocular disease.

Founded in 1922, the Academy�s mission is to promote the art and science of vision care. Academy Fellows are held to the highest ethical and professional standards of practice. Academy 2009 will take place in Orlando, Florida on November 11-14. The Academy�s journal, Optometry and Vision Science, is recognized worldwide as a chronicle of the scientific and professional development of optometry. The American Optometric Foundation (AOF), an affiliate of the Academy, presented nearly $327,250 in scholarships, awards and grants this year to support research in eye and vision care.
